I started teaching Portuguese to foreigners in 2003, during my first semester of Literature at UFBA. My first student was Hélène Lamesch, who, at the time, was a 69-year-old Austrian retired diplomat. Throughout the seven years she lived in Salvador, I aided her in learning Brazilian Portuguese. Later I would go on to instruct private classes (meeting the students at their home or preferred location). For two years I would teach at the Alliance Française in Salvador, then followed a semester at PROPEEP (currently known as NUPEL), another one at the University of Ancestrais Amorosos (in Pelourinho), online and for more than one semester at Brazillink institute.
